Hmm, and you were wondering why I wanted to avoid depending on a live database to keep my blog going day to day? Good presentation, most of it widely applicable to most geeky jobs (says the sysadmin team lead). Also, the delivery was better than you think.

Someday my $work will hire a real DBA instead of relying on the development manager who also writes stored procedures (admittedly quite well, when she has time) and the “DB developer” who juggles live data in production (mostly successfully) that we have now, and then I will have someone to give gifts to. Probably not chocolate, though, that rarely leaves my grasp.
