Here’s the talk in all its nervousness. Please be gentle with me.
I do like that O’Reilly had my actual talk proposal up on its site here. I hope people don’t start believing that my friend Mark is mean to animals just because his name and “drown” and “cat” exist in the same sentence in various web pages. He’s a true cat person. Though I could tell you about a developer I work with who upsets me with stories about what he did to cats on the farm growing up. So mean!

Good presentation, most of it widely applicable to most geeky jobs (says the sysadmin team lead). Also, the delivery was better than you think.
Someday my $work will hire a real DBA instead of relying on the development manager who also writes stored procedures (admittedly quite well, when she has time) and the “DB developer” who juggles live data in production (mostly successfully) that we have now, and then I will have someone to give gifts to. Probably not chocolate, though, that rarely leaves my grasp.
Hmm, and you were wondering why I wanted to avoid depending on a live database to keep my blog going day to day? While my site is a much smaller-scale thing than anything you’re running at [your current company], what you talked about here is precisely the stuff I want to avoid thinking about very often or very much!
You had great posture and your voice didn’t shake – well done.
Watched it a few times. First time I just paid attention to your jokes and your outfit
But in second pass I noticed you had sincere advice and good content too.
The tie looks super cute on you! Lead the fashion scene of the geek world. It’s all on you now.
This was awesome!
You done good!
You should use your drawing here for your tattoo. The skull and crossbones is a nice touch.
