I've often wondered why we only have *2* sets of teeth - one set to get us through our 'sweet eating' childhood, then when they've just about had it due to rotting, they drop out and we grow our 'adult' teeth. Given the problems that they cause as we get older, wouldn't it be sensible for those teeth to drop out when we're - say, around 40 years old, and be replaced by a third set? We're not designed very well, are we? ;^)

I once asked my dentist why we don't just all have our teeth replaced with super-duper titanium teeth. Our own teeth seem to be good for nothing but rotting, breaking, and hurting. As a bonus, with titanium teeth, we could all be like the bad guy in Moonraker.
He seemed to think it was a pretty stupid idea. My dentist, that is. Not the bad guy from Moonraker.

I think Derek may be right - could be the infection that's returned. I've had that several times in the past (dentist usually refers to it as an 'abscess') - feels just like toothache, and had to take anti-biotics to clear it. I'll bet if you visit the doc, he'll tell you to see a dentist. Just need to try a different one - surely Canada has more than one dentist!? ;^)

I find it mildly entertaining that any of you would think that I would ever see that dentist again.

You could also have gotten another infection through the canker sore.

My suggestions: see a doctor for this. And get another dentist.

Canker sores can be an indication of something more serious going on. They show up quite often in auto-immune diseases as do strange infections. You may want to mention the cankers to your doc along with any other weird symptoms. I never thought anything of all the cankers I got until I found out that they are a symptom of colitis along with eczema, boils and other lovely things.

The clinic at the UBC Dental school does cheap check-ups. I also know for a fact that if you go nuts and get checked into Riverview Hospital you can see the best dentist ever: my dad.
