More on jeans: Success

I took Donna‘s advice about going to Levi’s for jeans, and I ended up with a pair of Low Slouch Boot Cut. I still stand by my theory that the fashion industry is trying to make us feel fat, or maybe it’s more that they’re confusing us by complimenting us at the same time: by making jeans extra long while deflating sizes. Fashion is like that friend you had in high school, who was nice to you in person, but was saying bad things about you as soon as you left the room. I swear.

You see, according to Levi’s, I’m a size “1M”, which leads me to guess that all the skinny Asian girls in town aren’t wearing Levi’s. I’m not that thin, yo. But, okay, butter me up, say I’m a twig, make me happy. But then say that these jeans have a “relaxed fit” through the hips and thighs, yet they fit me like a glove. So, you’re saying my thighs are fat? Can you see how confused I am?

On the other hand, I really shouldn’t complain, since these seem to fit me better than any jeans have in years. Plus, this is the first time in a long time that Levi’s have fit me (and my supposed thunder-thighs). So I have hope for a new tomorrow where I have jeans that fit and that don’t have holes in the crotches.

Doesn’t Levis have a program where you can go to some stores, get measured, and then they build jeans to fit you? And you can keep ordering more from the same sizing data? I’m sure I remember this.

Huh, this isn’t Levis, but there is makeyourownjeans dot com

I cheat, being male. In 2005, I went to Cheap-Jeans dot com, and bought six pair of identical black Levis 501s. (There was a price point break at 6). One of them I still have never worn and still have the tags. Once I’ve worn out all 6, I’ll go do it again.

yes, that’s a good plan. If you find jeans that fit buy in multiples. However, I probably wouldn’t buy as many as Mark does at a time as I’m taking a risk that I won’t gain or lose weight.

I have bought two pairs of the same style of jeans at one time, but I’m not sure I’d ever buy 6, for Patricia’s reason. I’m guessing I’m 5 lbs heavier than I was a year ago, though also 5 lbs lighter than I was a few months ago… 5 lbs makes a big difference on jeans sizing for me, as it’s mostly in the waist.
I don’t think Levi’s stores here build jeans for people, though I remember that being advertised in the US years ago.
