Ed’s boyfriend Tom sent me this photo to put up on the website. I agreed with him that this image sums up Ed and all he was about.
Ed was the sort of guy who when drunk, you couldn’t tell. His level of cheer and goodwill is something the rest of us require mind-altering chemicals to achieve.
Those of you who didn’t know Ed are probably thinking that people are saying so many good things about him because it’s rude to say anything else. But that’s all there is to say about him. The worst I’ve heard from people is that he was sometimes too nice and never said a bad thing about anyone, when sometimes they deserved it. That’s it. What a horrible guy, eh?
Damn you, Ed, for being so much fun.

Thanks for posting this great picture. I can’t help but smile when I see it. Ed’s radiant and infectious cheer just leaps off the screen, just as it used to spread through the office at WebCT. What a lucky bunch we are, to have been the recipients of such a treasure of good will, all from one guy.
I was lucky enough to have known Ed and I can verify that he was, without a doubt, one of the most genuine people you’d ever be lucky enough to meet. Thank you for the photo, it is so him.
This photo is awesome. Definitely makes me smile.
this photo is so Ed! I am deeply sorry that he is gone and my sincere sympathy to his family and friends.
Ed brought something special to everyone he met and I count myself very lucky to have known him. I respected him for his intelligence and his insight. I liked him for his warm and caring nature. We’ve lost someone really wonderful.
Ed, have fun and take care! We miss you.
condolences, Gillian. i’m so sorry for your loss – yours words though truly shows what a great friend he was to you.
I was lucky enough to have had many enjoyable and entertaining conversations with Ed, during the two years I worked with him. Ed exuded positivity, enthusiasm, and cheer, and he was simply a fun and nice guy. My sincerest condolences to his family, and his many friends. He most certainly will be missed.
Thanks for your words Gill. Ed was such a nice guy. I have a bad habit of not keeping in touch with people as well as I should, and Ed was one of those I lost touch with, but seeing him at the high school reunion and a few times after that was a real blessing. He was such a nice guy. It’s hard to realize what loss is until something is gone. I’ll miss him.
